So I walked into BBY on my 2 hour break between Latin and Math today in order to pick up one (very specific) Christmas present for someone...turns out Best Buy is doing some kind of "Black Friday Pre-Sale" event, some of the deals were incredible. I walked out with considerably more then one persons gift as well as seasons 1-4 of House for only 12 bucks each (Eric's present to himself this year =) ) |

Eric's Mp3 Player Note: I have a lot of Audio Books on here so I'm going to hit the button again if they come up. Not that book titles are bad but many many many of them are like "Part 2.mp3".

| Art Class |
[Feb. 9th, 2009|01:58 am] |
So my art class on Thursday had a really odd effect on me. We had some presentation on an artist (I was actually pretty interested in it) and mid way through I got the uncontrollable urge to outline a book idea that has been banging around in my head for ages. I pulled out my notebook and by the end of the presentation I had a three page outline complete with preliminary chapter and section titles and each section fleshed out with at least 2-3 sentences. Hopefully with this as a working outline I could have it finished in a few months as long as I keep working on it.
I have no idea why a presentation on a modern artist would jump start my writing like that. It's really the most productive I have been in ages.
At the end of the class my teacher wanted to know what I had been writing the whole time, asking me if I knew I didn't need to take notes on these presentations as we wouldn't ever go over them on exams or anything. I had to sheepishly admit I had been writing something else. She wanted to know what class it had been for and I was like "Well...it's not for class, I'm uh kinda, sorta a writer and I was outlining a book I want to write". Her response was that was fine then as long as I was doing something creative and not being boring and writing a engineering paper or something. Which I thought was kinda funny. |

| The State of the Eric |
[Jan. 19th, 2009|02:11 pm] |
Ok I've been meaning to post this for a long time, so here goes.
As some of you (most of you actually) know I've been experiencing some worrying health issues of late. For those of you who don't here is a recap: Sometime in late November, early December three fingers in my right hand began to hurt horribly especially the right thumb and index finger. The pain was so bad that I was not able to use my right hand at all for a day or two. After that the pain got slowly better but I began to notice an odd discoloration in the fingers (espcially under hot water) as well as it being a bit swelled and feverishly hot. That ended in a couple days leaving my fingers slightly discolored and cold, like ice cold to the touch. Since the pain was mostly gone and I could use my fingers again I shrugged it off thinking I had just bust a blood vessel or something and it would right itself. Weeks later it was still freezing cold, and begining to turn more odd colors as well as my thumb growing very calloused (I mean like I was a coal miner or something...) this (combined with a shortness of breath) prompted me to leave work and go to the ER. The ER doc was nice (though I saw him 45 seconds after waiting 7 hours) told me that I most likely had a condition known as Raynauds and sent me to a rheumitologist. The Rhuemitologist was a very nice man named Dr. Hunt who examined me, noticed my circulation was a little slow all over (not just in the effected hand) and sent me to a Vascular surgeon after ordering a ton of blood work (all of which I'm told came back normal).
Today I saw the Vascular surgeon who examined me and then broke the bad news...my hand was not repairable. It will most likely heal more on its own but it might never be back to 100%, he said since I was young and seemed in good health it was unlikely it would be less then 90-95% healed eventually though, adding that the process could take more then a year. He was more concerned about what could have caused it though saying that while all my pulse/circulations seemed normal (which i guess he knows more about then the arthritis doc) he wanted to make some tests on my heart. So next month they're going to do a CT on my chest as well as put a wire into my heart to make sure my valves are ok. He said that the central cause is most likely non life threatening since I had spent 2 months relatively stable (I have had some stomach issues but he said he would be VERY surprised to find that they were related at all). but it could be something serious like Lupus or another auto immune or a heart problem that could require life long monitoring. There is also a very small chance it was simpley a freak accident (I hit my hand just the right way to seriously hurt a vessel) though he considered this unlikely because it would normally have to have been so strong a whack to the hand I'd recall it.
Anyway thats whats going on with my hand. at the start of January I also came down with some kind of awful stomach problem. Many of the symptoms cleared up but I've still had some rest room issues so they're going to do a colonoscopy on me tomorrow (hurrah). I was pretty worried about this until I have heard that everyone and there mother has had one at some point. |

Always go with your initial reaction when picking your Fantasy Football lineup for the playoffs boys and girls, don't ever start someone because they're technically the better player...
Ah well always next year. |

[Dec. 9th, 2008|05:29 am] |
So I beat Chrono tigger for the first time ever last night, what a terrific game. I normally hate turn based RPG's but this game did away with almost everything that makes me dislike them (melodrama, random battles, slow pace) and replace it with pure awesome and win. I clocked in at something like 22 hours for this play through, doing all the side quests and the new DS era you can do the first time through (I unlocked a second one apparently by beating it) that has to be a record amount of time played for me with a turn based RPG and the only games I've ever done all the side quests in are Zelda: Link to the Past and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I think at the end of the day it ranks in as my number 2 all time 2d game and my number 3 overall (behind the aforementioned Zelda titles).
It's also made me want to try and experiment by playing some other turn based games and see how I feel about them now (I haven't even really tried to play any 2d rpg's since I was in high school). What do you guys think I should check out first? I'm thinking either
A)Super Mario RPG B)Earth Bound
or C) Tales of Phantasia
I'm leaning towards Super Mario RPG since it would be the easiest for me to get (just have to download it off the virtual console).
Oh and I'm also thinking of giving chrono cross a whirl just to see the parts of the story that link up with trigger. |
